Gluteal augmentation does not normally garner a snappy headline, but Mark Mofid has changed that. When he entered the profession he saw an opportunity for improvement. His tendency to put the safety of the patient first has given him a stellar reputation, but he didn’t stop there. Seeing that the implants available were less than ideal, he put his tendency to innovate to work for the betterment of the patient and the industry.
In the past, gluteal augmentation patients were limited in their choices. The implants that were available to them were generic in quality. They had a tendency to sag over time and did not fit the human body very well. Instead of accepting what was the norm in the industry, Mark Mofid set to work to improve the quality of implants on the market. It took some time but what he came up with was much improved over the competition. His designs had a lower profile, better intramuscular positioning and better ratios. This new and better-looking implant was well-received by patients and practitioners alike.
Mark Mofid has also worked well with others in his field. He has been working with Dr. Raul Gonzalez, world-renowned in the field of gluteal augmentation. Dr. Gonzalez operates in Brazil, which gives him a lot of opportunities to practice due to the fact that Brazil leads the world in gluteal augmentation. While the United States was home to 1000 operations in 2012, Brazil boasted a hefty 20,000 in that same year.
While also working as a staff surgeon in a few San Diego hospitals, Dr. Mark Mofid has his main office in La Jolla, San Diego County. He received his medical degree from The Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine, where he studied plastic surgery as well as general surgery. He received his undergraduate degree at Harvard, impressively graduating magna cum laude. Mark Mofid is board certified by both the American Board of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery and the American Board of Plastic Surgery.
