One of the leading figures contracting with FEMA to rebuild communities devastated by natural disasters is Barbara Stokes, an entrepreneur with more than three decades of experience in disaster relief, and the founder and CEO of Green Structure Homes of Alabama, LLC. The company was founded in 2008 by Stokes and her husband, Scott, who serves as COO of the company, and secured Disaster Relief Construction certification in 2012, very rapidly acquiring contracts for emergency housing valued at $49 million. Operating out of Huntsville, Alabama, and with manufacturing facilities in eight states, GSU has developed a sterling reputation for building houses that are compact, cost efficient and capable of assembly within a few days.
